Man arrested after drugs warrant issued on property

POLICE have today (Wednesday 11 November) arrested a man after a drugs warrant was carried out at a property on Ailsa Avenue in Blackpool as part of an operation to target those who deal and use illegal drugs.

The warrant, which was executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act, unveiled a large quantity of suspected ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, amphetamine and temazepam.

A significant cash seizure was also made at the address.

A 64-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of supplying or offering class A and class B drugs, remains in police custody where he is being questioned by detectives.

A warrant was also executed this morning at a property on Park Road in Blackpool and a further three warrants were executed yesterday (Tuesday 10 November) at addresses on Kilnhouse Lane in St Annes, Commonside in St Annes and Chesterfield Road in Blackpool.
A laptop which is suspected to be stolen was seized from the property on Commonside and further enquiries are underway.

Three warrants were also executed on Monday (9 November) at properties on Chelford Avenue in Layton, Horsebridge Road on Grange Park and Eastwood Avenue in Layton.

A quantity of suspected amphetamine was found during the raid at Horsebridge Road and a small amount of suspected cannabis was found at the property on Chelford Avenue.

Trading standards officers also attended the addresses on Horsebridge Road where a laptop and computer were seized along with some suspected illegally copied DVDs.

33-year-old Daniel McManus from Chelford Avenue in Layton has charged with possession of a class B drug (cannabis) and has been bailed to appear at Blackpool Magistrates Court on Friday 13 November.

These raids form part of a series of activity that will be taking place across Blackpool and the Fylde in an attempt to bring local drug dealers to justice and take drugs off the streets.

If you suspect drug related activity in your neighbourhood, contact the police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
